Which power option suits your event?
Answer four questions and we’ll tell you which option fits best. Both options are $150 with fuel/charge included.
The key differences
Petrol Generator
- Handles all screen sizes including 8m
- Unlimited runtime, refuel as needed
- Reliable in any weather
- Audible hum (placed away from audience)
- Better for parks and large open spaces
- $150 fuel included
Silent Battery Inverter

- Zero noise, zero fumes
- Suits venues with noise restrictions
- Compact, no exhaust clearance needed
- Runtime approx 4 to 6 hours per charge
- Best for 3m and 5m screens
- $150 charge included
Noise levels explained
A petrol generator runs at roughly 65 to 75 decibels at one metre, comparable to a normal conversation. Positioned 10 to 15 metres from the audience (behind the screen), it blends into the background once the film audio starts. For a backyard in suburbs like Applecross, Cottesloe or Kwinana where neighbours are close, the silent inverter removes any concern.
Venues such as halls and community centres often prohibit petrol-powered equipment indoors or in enclosed outdoor areas, making the silent inverter the only practical option. Check your venue’s conditions before booking either option. WA Consumer Protection has guidance on event safety requirements.
Runtime comparison
| Scenario | Generator | Inverter |
|---|---|---|
| One film (approx 2 hrs) | ✓ Easy | ✓ Easy |
| Pre-show setup + film (4 hrs) | ✓ Easy | ⚠ Check charge |
| Double feature (5+ hrs) | ✓ Refuel mid-event | — Not recommended |
| 8m screen (large draw) | ✓ Designed for it | ⚠ Case by case |
What is included in both options
Both are priced at $150 and include everything needed to run the cinema. The generator price includes petrol. The inverter price includes a full charge. Neither requires anything from you on the night.
Power is included as an add-on to any cinema package. If your venue has a power outlet you trust, you may not need either option. Let us know when you enquire and we will advise.

Every hire includes the screen, projector, professional PA, delivery, setup and pack-down. The 3m suits a backyard, the 5m up to around 300 and the 8m up to 1,200. Not sure which fits, our screen size guide walks through it.

How a Community Event Runs
Our team delivers, sets up and fully operates the 5m or 8m screen for the whole event, so your volunteers can focus on the crowd, the food stall or the fundraiser rather than the gear. We arrive early, test the PA across the space, and pack down after.
What the venue needs
A flat area for the screen and seating, and access to power, or we bring a silent battery inverter for ovals and parks. Public or ticketed events also need a screening licence, which we help you arrange well before the night.
What to Expect on the Night
We deliver, set up and test everything before your guests arrive, then run the effects and pack down after, so the party is yours to enjoy. A 3m screen takes about half an hour to set up; the Party Pack lighting and effects go up alongside it.
What you supply, what we bring
You supply the space, the power point and the film through your own device. We bring the screen, projector, professional PA, all cabling, and the lighting or effects you have booked. If power is a walk from the seating, we can bring a silent battery inverter so there is no generator noise under the music.
