Ask the question on the big screen.
A montage of your years together, ending on four words on a giant screen under the stars. We set it up in secret, you press play, and the moment is yours to remember.
Some moments deserve more than a phone screen. Put it up in lights and let it land the way it should.
How a big-screen proposal works.
You bring the words, we bring the screen. Set up quietly, ready the moment the light drops.
You send the moment
A photo montage, a short video, a simple countdown to the question, whatever feels like you. Bring it on a phone or laptop, and if you want a hand putting it together, just ask.
We set up in secret
We deliver the screen, projector and professional sound and set it all up while your partner is out, so they walk into a backyard cinema already glowing and ready.
Press play and ask
It is dry hire, so the night is private, no crew watching on. Have a friend on the phone camera, hit play, and ask the question on a screen the whole backyard can see.
Why it makes the moment.
A moment in lights
The question up on a giant screen, with your story leading into it, lands far bigger than a ring box pulled from a pocket. It is cinematic, because it is on a real cinema screen.
Made for the camera
A lit screen at dusk is the perfect backdrop for the photos and the video. The reaction, the yes, the hug, all captured against something beautiful.
Set up in secret
We can install everything while your partner is away, so there is no spoiling the surprise. They simply come home to it already running.
Then celebrate
Once they say yes, the screen is yours for the night. Roll into a film, invite the family for an engagement party, and keep the celebration going.
Comfortable seating
Bean bags at $11 each, or your own cushions and rugs, to settle in for the celebration once the question is asked.

Proposal questions.
What deposit do you need, and can I cancel or reschedule?
A 50% booking fee secures your date, with the balance due before the event. You can reschedule free of charge with more than 72 hours' notice. Full details are in our Terms & Conditions.
Can you play our own video or montage?
Yes. Bring a video, a photo montage or a simple countdown to the question on a phone or laptop, and we will get it up on the screen. If you want help putting a short clip together, ask us when you book.
Can you set it up without them knowing?
That is the whole idea. We arrive and set everything up while your partner is out, quietly and quickly, so they come home to a backyard cinema that is already glowing and ready for the moment.
Do you stay during the proposal?
No. For a backyard event it is dry hire, so once it is set up and running we leave, and the moment stays completely private. Have a friend ready to film and to press play.
What time does it need to be?
The picture needs darkness, so we start after dusk. In a Perth summer that is about 8:30pm; in autumn and winter it is dark by 6 to 7pm. We set up earlier so it is ready the second the light drops.
Can it turn into the engagement party?
Absolutely. The screen is yours for the night, so once they say yes you can roll into a film, bring out the champagne and have the family over to celebrate.
Do you deliver to my suburb?
We deliver right across Perth and the Peel region from our Kwinana base. The 3m screen is delivered free within 20km, and a flat $4/km applies beyond that. See the full suburb list for your area.
We set the scene, you ask the question.
Perth Pop-Up Movies is a family business based in Kwinana, run by Alexander, an AV technician with 25 years in the industry who started it in 2020. We quote and plan it with you, set it up in secret, and pack it all away after, so the only thing you have to think about is the moment.
