Two Rocks is named after a pair of distinctive rocks offshore and began as a small fishing settlement servicing the local rock lobster industry along this stretch of coast.
In the 1970s the area became the focus of an ambitious Sun City resort development, which built the marina, a shopping centre, the King Neptune statue and the now-closed Atlantis Marine Park.
After the resort vision faltered, Two Rocks settled into a quiet coastal village, with its marina continuing to serve both commercial fishing boats and recreational vessels.
The Sun City precinct was added to the State Register of Heritage Places in 2023, and recent marina upgrades and new residential estates are bringing fresh growth to the far-northern village.
