Secret Harbour sits on the Swan Coastal Plain at Warnbro Sound, country of the Whadjuk and Binjareb Noongar people, who used this coast and its wetlands for seasonal living long before European settlement.
The name was approved in 1984 for a proposed marina and small-boat harbour. Despite the name, the harbour was never built, and the suburb instead grew as a coastal residential estate.
Serious development began in the 1990s, transforming low coastal scrub and dunes into one of Rockingham fastest-growing master-planned suburbs, anchored by the golf links and a beachside town centre.
Today Secret Harbour is an established family suburb within the City of Rockingham, with its surf beach, surf life saving club and foreshore playground making the coast the heart of community life.
