Local knowledge

What You Need to Know About Outdoor Cinema in Mount Lawley

Heritage homes need access planning: Many Mount Lawley properties are character Federation and interwar homes on narrow leafy streets, so confirm side or rear access for the gear before the day.
Mature trees mean shade and clearance: Established street and garden trees give lovely ambience, but watch overhead branch clearance when positioning a screen.
Beaufort Street draws a crowd: The Beaufort Street strip means good foot traffic for community or precinct events, but expect tighter parking on weekend evenings.
Three councils, one suburb: Mount Lawley straddles Stirling, Vincent and Bayswater, so check which council manages a specific reserve before planning a public event there.
Backyards suit the 3m setup: Many homes have generous rear gardens that comfortably fit the backyard 3m screen and bean bags.

About the area

A Brief History of Mount Lawley

Mount Lawley developed in the early twentieth century as one of Perth first leafy garden suburbs, just north-east of the central business district along the Swan River.

Its streets filled with Federation and interwar homes, many of which survive today and give the suburb its recognised heritage character.

In 1995 the City of Perth was divided into separate local governments, and Mount Lawley was split between the City of Vincent, the City of Stirling and the City of Bayswater.

Today Beaufort Street is the suburb social spine, a busy cafe, dining and small-bar strip that anchors community life in the area.

It is a longer inner-north run for us, but the price stays simple: flat $4/km, quoted upfront, with no weekend or public holiday surcharge.
