"Thank you Alex and his wife for adding a unique experience to our boys birthday party. Fantastic communication, fast and easy set up all done for us and simple instructions for us to follow, the bean bags were a great added touch to the whole outdoor movie experience. Would highly recommend and definitely use again!"
Hammond Park was carved out of the old rural locality of Banjup and formally gazetted as its own suburb in March 2002. It takes its name from James Hammond, a pioneer of the Jandakot district who settled in the area in 1887.
Like much of the City of Cockburn eastern growth corridor, the suburb was developed as greenfield land to absorb Perth southern population growth. Its population more than doubled between 2011 and 2016 and it has since matured into a fully built-out community of detached family homes.
The suburb civic landmark is Frankland Park, a sport and community facility with two AFL-size floodlit ovals, a function room, a kiosk and a playground. It is home to the Hammond Park Junior Football Club and the local community association, alongside Hammond Park Primary School, Hammond Park Catholic Primary School and Hammond Park Secondary College.
That mix of large modern backyards, flat blocks and a young family demographic makes Hammond Park a natural fit for outdoor cinema. Homes are new enough to have easy power and level lawns, and the school and club calendars create plenty of demand for fundraiser and community movie nights.
For us the clincher is distance. Hammond Park is only about 15km up the freeway from our Kwinana base, so it sits comfortably inside the 20km free-delivery zone and the 3m backyard screen comes delivered free, just like neighbouring Success.
