Dudley Park lies on Binjareb Noongar country beside the Peel Inlet, part of the wider Peel Harvey estuary fed by the Serpentine and Murray rivers. For thousands of years the estuary edge offered fish, crabs and seasonal camps, and the water remains central to suburb life.
The suburb takes its name from the Dudley Park estate, a residential subdivision laid out in the mid twentieth century. The estate label was carried forward and approved as the official suburb name as the canalside neighbourhood took shape.
Early activity centred on the timber and estuary trades, including Baileys Mill on Soldiers Cove which milled tuart from 1911. Suburban growth accelerated through the 1950s and later decades, with canal developments cut from the inlet adding waterfront homes.
Today Dudley Park is a settled waterside part of the City of Mandurah, blending older estuary streets, canal frontages and the protected Creery Wetlands. Residents enjoy boating, foreshore walks and a relaxed coastal lifestyle just south of the busy Mandurah centre.
