Perth Pop-Up Movies is Perth’s outdoor cinema hire specialist. We deliver, set up, operate, and pack down every event so you can focus on the people who showed up. Our screens run from 3 metres for a backyard birthday up to 8 metres for a council festival of more than a thousand people.
We serve Perth metro, the Peel region, and head further south on request. Whether you are a parent planning a tween’s sleepover, a P&C running a fundraiser, a wedding planner adding a wow factor to the reception, or a council events officer programming a summer series, we have the gear and the experience to make it look effortless.
Same price every day of the year. No weekend, public holiday, or school holiday surcharges. Ever.
Outdoor cinema in Perth refers to any movie watching experience held outside, usually under the stars, with a portable or fixed screen. In Western Australia the format thrives because we have one of the longest dry seasons in the country, mild evenings from November through April, and a strong culture of backyard, beach, and park events.
There are three main ways people watch outdoor cinema in Perth:
This is what we do. You pick a date and a venue (your backyard, a school oval, a council reserve, a beach reserve), we deliver everything, run the event, and take it all away at the end of the night. You control the film, the crowd, the food, the start time, everything.
Perth has several ticketed outdoor cinema venues that run a programme of films through summer. These include Telethon Community Cinemas in Burswood and Kalamunda, Moonlight Cinema in Kings Park, Camelot Outdoor Cinema in Mosman Park, and Rooftop Movies in Northbridge. You buy a ticket, you turn up, you watch what they’re showing.
Galaxy Drive-In in Kingsley is Perth’s last operating drive in. You watch from your car. Sound comes through your radio.
The Perth outdoor cinema season runs roughly November to April, with the absolute peak between December and March. Autumn (April to May) is a beautiful shoulder season for hire events with cooler evenings, smaller crowds, and easier bookings. Winter events are possible but better suited to indoor venues with a framed screen.
Outdoor cinema works for almost any event where people gather. Here’s how it breaks down across the typical clients we work with.
Screen size depends on your audience and your venue, not your budget. A 3m screen looks lost on a school oval and an 8m screen overpowers a backyard. Here’s the simple version.
| Screen | Audience | Best for | Price from |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3m inflatable | Up to 50 | Backyard birthdays, family nights, small gatherings | $280 |
| 3m framed | Up to 50 | Indoor venues, wind-exposed locations, beach events | $280 |
| 5m community | Up to 230 | Schools, weddings, small community events | $600 |
| 8m community | Up to 1,200 | Council festivals, large schools, corporate events | $1,100 |
Audience numbers are guidelines. Line of sight, venue layout, ambient light, and ambient noise all matter. If you’re not sure which screen fits your event, call us, send a venue photo, and we’ll tell you straight.
We publish every price. No quote required for standard packages. No “starting from” tricks. No surcharges for weekends, public holidays, or school holidays. What you see below is what you pay.
